Shelley worked with my son, Tom, over a number of years. Tom had an ‘active nasal fricative, along with other immaturities in his speech that made him difficult to understand. On top of this, he was diagnosed with Selective Mutism meaning that he would only talk in front of people he trusted and felt comfortable with. Shelley used a variety of techniques to help Tom, who ultimately overcame his Mutism, and his speech issues completely to the point that he has been confident enough to present to his entire school, and we can barely get him to stop talking! Shelley took time to get to know Tom and built a strong and lasting relationship with him. Tom trusts her implicitly and, as such, has always been motivated to do his best. I couldn’t recommend Shelley highly enough. She communicates clearly, feeds back succinctly, and the proof of the pudding is here in my strong, confident, intelligible, happy, and chatty child! Shelley was my speech therapist for two years while I was at school and proved to be a kind and empathetic teacher who helped me with my wellbeing as well as language. I would definitely recommend her.

I know he hasn’t been the easiest boy to work with and he just loved throwing you the odd curveball to keep you on your toes, but you never gave up and thanks to your determination and perseverance you finally found that missing key and I am very grateful for that and your honest talking. Seeing the amazing progress Jack has made in his time with you is wonderful. We are so thankful to you for all your dedication and hard work with Jack. Thank you for supporting James through his first year of school. Thank you also for supporting us with it! I have really enjoyed our conversations (and the food play sessions!) and have learnt a lot about communication and language development.

As an NQT, I’m not yet hugely well-versed in all things SALT, but Shelley was so informative and supportive and I feel like I – as well as the children! – learned loads from her. She really bonded with the pupil she had sessions with and it was amazing to see how quickly they were making progress together. Each session was tailored to their needs and interests which meant they looked forward to their weekly sessions, asking “Is Shelley coming today?!” The difference in their communication skills was noticeable within the first few sessions! Shelley also delivered some highly effective sessions via Zoom which was brilliant – thank you, Shelley!

Shelley was fantastic with my son who was 3/4 at the time. She really kept his attention with toys/ games and really made it fun for him. He still likes going over the homework sheets/ words 8 months on! She began by going into his nursery, but then lockdown happened so it continued via zoom. Despite this, Shelley still continued with the same high standard and my son would look forward to seeing her. Would definitely recommend.

Shelley has been fabulous with my four year old who experienced language as well as some social communication issues. She quickly gained a strong understanding and rapport with my daughter and helped her enormously both remotely during COVID restrictions and in person. Shelley was also great at aligning closely with my daughter’s school to ensure that the work that she was doing was being supported in class by her teachers. She was also very supportive personally whilst my daughter initially struggled to cope with school and tailored her classes to help her cope better with that environment as well as improving her language abs communication skills. Having worked with Shelley over the last 3 months for our son we have found her experience and knowledge really useful, productive, and fun. Doing it via Zoom we were not sure what to expect but it has been a really positive experience for us all from the first assessment with our son to the following coaching sessions for my husband and me. The tools we have now been given I feel will stand us in very good shape going forward and I feel this was a very worthwhile experience for the development of our son. I will miss our homework and follow-up sessions.

Shelley has a wonderful knack with children and my daughter instantly connected with her and always looked forward to their sessions together. Shelley conducted a thorough assessment and set some realistic goals to work towards. The report prepared by Shelley made it easy for us to keep my daughter’s school updated on her progress and what we could do to help her speech improve! My daughter has made wonderful progress and we’re very grateful to Shelley for the role she played.

Shelley, thank you so much for making Oscar’s speech therapy so enjoyable during your sessions with him, and also for inspiring me to play some fun and simple speech games with him. It was wonderful to see his speech improve through your therapy and I would highly recommend you to family and friends.

Shelley was an amazing help to me as a classroom teacher of students with social and communication difficulties. Her strategies and suggestions were relevant, time-efficient, and showed a real understanding of the students’ needs. I always felt listened to and included in all aspects of her work.
